Hyundai Creta SUV and i20 The premium hatchback has achieved a three-star rating in Global NCAP’s crash test program as part of the #SaferCarsforIndia campaign. Both the Hyundai Creta and the Hyundai i20 have achieved three-star ratings in the adult occupant and child occupant protection categories. Global NCAP has said that the Hyundai Creta model tested was equipped with dual front airbags and was produced in 2022. Hyundai i20 crash tested by Global NCAP was also equipped with dual front airbags and was built in 2022.
Hyundai in adult occupant protection category Creta has got 8 points out of 17, while in child occupant category it has got 28.29 points out of 49. The test report also reveals that the bodyshell integrity of the popular SUV proved to be unstable. During crash test. The SUV was also equipped with safety features like front seatbelt pre-tensioners, SBR and four-channel ABS.
The Hyundai i20 premium hatchback scored 8.84 out of 17 in the adult protection category. In the child occupant protection category, it got 36.89 marks out of 49. Test reports reveal that the hatchback’s bodyshell integrity has proven to be unstable during testing. Apart from dual front airbags, the hatchback was equipped with safety features like SBR, Isofix anchorage and four-channel ABS.
Both the Hyundai Creta and the Hyundai i20 were tested for their front crash impact at a top speed of 64 kmph. As part of its #SaferCarsforIndia campaign, Global NCAP currently tests frontal crash safety for occupants and not side-effects. In addition, it tests electronic stability control (ESC) and pedestrian safety of vehicles. These requirements will form part of the new Global NCAP Evaluation Protocol from July 2022.
