Hyundai’s new compact electric SUV is expected to be launched late this year or early 2027 and will get two battery pack options
Hyundai is preparing to further strengthen its electric SUV range in India. The company’s new compact electric SUV has been seen several times during testing. Testing models indicate that it could be launched in late 2026 or early 2027. This SUV will be positioned below the Creta Electric and could become the company’s most affordable electric SUV.
Its certified driving range is expected to be more than 500 km. Hyundai and Kia use similar technology in many of their global models. In such a situation, it is believed that many technologies of the recently introduced Kia Syros EV can be seen in the new Hyundai electric SUV. The Syros EV features 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs, giving a range of 443 km and 526 km (ARAI) respectively.
It is expected that Hyundai will also offer the option of two battery packs and the larger battery pack will give a range of more than 500 km. The pictures show that Hyundai has not used any existing petrol or diesel model for this SUV, but has designed it with a completely new design.
Its shape looks like Hyundai Venue, but the design reflects the company’s global electric cars. It has features like split LED DRLs at the top, main headlamp at the bottom bumper, flush door handles, black roof rails, approximately 16-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, roof spoiler and vertical rear reflectors.
The interior is expected to get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, connected car technology and level-2 ADAS. DC fast charging support can also be provided in variants with larger battery packs. Apart from this, features like battery thermal management, regenerative braking and connected charging can also be available.
Other possible features may include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, OTA software updates, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, level-2 ADAS, 6 airbags and many advanced safety features. After launch, it will compete with electric SUVs like Tata Nexon EV, Tata Punch EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and Kia Ciros EV.
