Kia Seltos Hybrid will compes with Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara: Kia Motors is working on the second generation of Celtose to beat Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara in the Indian market.
The company revealed at the Investor Meet at Seoul that the new Celtose would come up with hybrid engine. The KIA aims to sell 25% of hybrids and 18% electric vehicles in India. Launched in 2019 Celltose has already become popular due to its compact SUV appeal.
How much will the mileage be?
According to reports, the new Celtose will get hybrid technology with a 1.5-liter NA petrol engine. This strong hybrid can give more than 20–25 km/liter mileage, which is competitive by 16–18 km/liter of Creta and 27.97 km/liter of Vitara. The 1.5-liter turbo petrol may continue as mild hybrid, but the diesel engine may be closed due to strict emission rules.
Changes in design and features
The designs are expected to update with new LED headlamps, ORVMs, and dual-tone alloy wheels in the new Celtose. Kia is also working on a 6-7 seater SUV, in which petrol hybrid powertrain can be found. It is part of Creta and Vitara’s strategy to attract customers.
When will it be launched?
The KIA did not disclose the launch date, but Hybrid Celtose is expected to come to India by 2026. It can set a new benchmark in the compact SUV segment on the basis of mileage and features.
