C3X engine and mileage details
The C3X SUV comes with two engine options. It has a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 82hp power, which comes with a 5-speed manual. At the same time, the second is a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine with 110hp power, which comes with 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque-converter automatic. In such a situation, Autocar India conducted a mileage test of the range topping turbo automatic variant of this SUV. Let us tell you that the company claims ARAI mileage of 18.30Kmpl.
The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine of the C3X generates 110hp power and 205Nm peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed torque converter. In such a situation, during the real mileage test, it gave a mileage of 8.46Kmpl in the city and 13.38Kmpl on the highway. In this way its average mileage was 10.92Kmpl. Its throttle calibration is quite aggressive, making the car feel fast and responsive. Those who drive the car at speed or overtake will like it. However, this same feature also contributes to its low mileage in the real world.
What is also important to note during this real-world mileage test is that the turbo-automatic variants come with an engine stop-start system and the climate control works hard to maintain the cabin temperature at 22°C in 35-40°C climate, but this system rarely shuts down the engine while idling. Besides, the speed of the car also plays an important role in the mileage. Its turbo variant reaches speed of 0-100Kmph in just 10 seconds.
