The Skoda Kylaq compact SUV is based on the MQB A0 IN platform and gets a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited has achieved a major milestone by completing the production of 50,000 units of Skoda Kylaq. This milestone has been achieved in just over a year since its launch in December 2024. The Kylaq is being manufactured at the group’s plant in Chakan near Pune and has emerged as an important model for the brand. This SUV has also played a big role in the company’s 36 percent annual growth in 2025.
As Skoda’s first compact SUV, the Kylaq significantly expands the brand’s reach in the mass-market SUV segment. To meet the increasing demand for this model, the company has increased the production capacity of the Chakan plant by 30 percent. Along with this, partnerships with domestic suppliers have been strengthened, due to which the level of localization has improved significantly.
The Kylaq received over 10,000 bookings within days of its launch, due to which bookings for the base variant were temporarily halted in December due to overwhelming demand. Bookings were reopened in January and the company had also offered a free three-year standard maintenance package to the first 33,333 customers.
Based on the MQB A0 IN platform, the Skoda Kylaq gets a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, mated to a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This SUV is available in five color options and has features like large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, 6 airbags, leatherette upholstery and 6-way power adjustable driver seat.
Recently Skoda has launched Classic+ and Prestige+ variants of Kylaq. Classic+ is the entry-level option, while the Prestige+ variant offers additional features and technology. Meanwhile, the Skoda Kushaq recently got a facelift and the Volkswagen Taigun facelift is also expected to be launched in the coming months.
