New Delhi. The hatchback cars are booming in the Indian automobile market. Budget friendly these cars are the first choice for the people. Small families prefer hatchback cars only. Hatchback cars like Alto, WagonR, i20, Tata Tiago and Tata Altroz are very much liked in the Indian market. The sales of hatchback cars in the Indian market in October 2022 have registered a growth of 34% on a yearly basis, but a decline of 5.12 percent on a monthly basis compared to the previous month. Talking about October, Maruti Suzuki’s WagonR continues to dominate the hatchback segment.
On a yearly basis, the list is topped by the WagonR with sales of 17,945 units. After this, Swift has sold 17,231 units and Baleno has sold 17,149 units. But, on a month-on-month basis, WagonR sales saw a decline of 10.58% and Baleno sales declined by 11.46%, while Swift numbers grew by 43.74% MoM. Let us tell you that the hatchback has a share of 14.71%, 14.13% and 14.06% in the sales of WagonR, Swift and Baleno respectively.
Hyundai’s i10 and i20
Let us tell you that in hatchback cars, Hyundai i10 and i20 have sold 7855 and 7814 units respectively. With this, both the cars have registered annual growth of 46.56 percent and 77.03 percent respectively.
Sales of Tata Tiago and Altroz
Apart from this, if we talk about Tata Tiago and Altroz, both of them have sold 7187 and 4770 units respectively in October 2022. Both these Tata cars have registered a decline of 8.74% MoM.
Ignis and Celerio
Talking about budget-friendly cars, Ignis and Celerio, both of them secured 9th and 10th positions in hatchback sales in October 2022. The company managed to sell 4,743 and 4,296 units of these two respectively, while Ignis quadrupled its figures with 210.81% year-on-year growth, which is the highest ever recorded growth in the list. At the same time, Celerio doubled its figure in October 2021 with an annual growth of 114.91%. On a monthly basis, it turns out that both saw a drop in sales in September 2022.
