New Delhi. Toyota has recently revealed the Crown Sport, an all-new SUV that joins the company’s Crown lineup as the second model to join the high-riding sedan. Apart from the Crown Sport, Toyota has also expanded their Century lineup by introducing the Century SUV, further diversifying their product range.
stylish design
The 5-seater Toyota Crown Sport has a stylish crossover look, measuring almost five meters in length and a wheelbase of 2.7 meters. The design incorporates Toyota’s signature styling cues, including design details from the Crown sedan. The body shell is characterized by numerous cuts and folds, prominent front and rear fenders and a distinctive sharp crease. At the front, the bumper includes a double-layered nose grille with the main headlamp units and a wide, sharp lining that integrates with the C-shaped LED daytime running lamps. Toyota refers to this style as the “Hammerhead Shark Look”. The grille is located between the main lighting units and includes a prominent faux skid plate, reinforcing the crossover-like design. At the rear, there is a high-set bumper with sharp creases, a faux skid plate, a number plate housing and connected tail lamp units.
interior
The interior of the Toyota Crown Sport sports a premium touch with extensive use of wood, leather and piano black finish. Toyota has introduced “Sound-Regulating Sealing Technology” which, according to the company, helps create a quiet cabin environment.
Features of power train
While Toyota has not yet revealed powertrain specifications for the Crown Sport, it is anticipated that it will be powered by a 2.4-litre petrol hybrid powertrain with multiple power output options depending on the variant. Toyota also plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid powertrain at a later stage.
Expected Launch
As part of its lineup expansion plans, Toyota has introduced the high-riding Crown sedan in the North American market. Currently, the Crown Sport SUV is available only in Japan, but preparations are underway to introduce it in other markets soon.
