Volkswagen will launch 3 SUVs, 1 hatchback and 1 sedan in the Indian market this year.
Volkswagen India is preparing to launch many new models in the coming years. This list will include cars manufactured locally in India as well as fully imported premium cars. The aim of the company is to strengthen its hold in different segments and provide more options to the customers. Here we have given information about the models to be launched in India this year.
1. Volkswagen Tayron R-Line
The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line has been confirmed to be launched in this quarter. Its local assembly has started in India. This SUV will come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which will be mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and standard all-wheel drive system. It will be based on the latest generation global Tiguan and will be positioned at the top of the company’s lineup as a more premium, comfortable and practical 7-seater SUV.
2. Volkswagen Taigun Facelift

After the Skoda Kushaq facelift was recently revealed, a facelifted version of the Volkswagen Taigun is also coming soon. It will see cosmetic updates and a more premium cabin. The features list is likely to be the same as the Kushaq facelift, although ADAS and 360-degree camera will not be included. There will be no major changes in engine options and it will continue to get 1.0L and 1.5L turbo petrol engines, but a new automatic gearbox may be added.
3. Volkswagen Virtus Facelift
The Volkswagen Virtus sedan is expected to get the update in the second half of this year. With this update, new and better features like Taigun facelift can be given in it. These may include a larger touchscreen infotainment system, better connectivity features, more premium and upgraded interior materials and a new 8-speed automatic gearbox, which will make the driving experience smoother and more comfortable than before.
4. Volkswagen Golf GTI
The entire units of the first Volkswagen Golf GTI launched in India were sold out very quickly. Now the company is preparing to bring its new batch in limited units as full import at the end of this year. This car will come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which will generate 265 PS power and 370 Nm torque. With a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, this car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.
5. Volkswagen Tayron
After the R-Line version, the standard version of Volkswagen Tayron is also expected to be launched this year. It has replaced the Tiguan Allspace in many international markets, especially Europe, and will come with several new updates compared to the 5-seater Tiguan. Although it has many engine options globally, but in India it can be offered only with 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine.
