New Delhi, February 18 (). Army’s Harmanjot Singh will be included in the 12-member Indian team to participate in the Asian Cross-Country Championships to be held in Fukuoka, Japan on February 21. The Indian team will leave for Japan on Wednesday. This information was given by Bahadur Singh Sagoo, President Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

Indian athletes will participate in Senior Men’s, Women’s and Under 20 groups. Harmanjot Singh will participate in Men’s 10 Km. Aditya Gurjar, Abhinandan Suryavanshi and Karan Ramesh Sarnade will represent India in the Men’s Under 20 category. The distance of the Men’s Under 20 event is 8 kilometers.

The members of the women’s 10 kilometer team are Nandini Gupta, Ujala, Sonia and Munni Devi. Varsha, Mani Yadav, Sonam Kumari and Arju will participate in the women’s U-20 group.

The AFI selected the national team on the basis of the performance of the athletes in the 60th National Cross-Country Championship held in Ranchi, Jharkhand last month, in which 35 teams including affiliated state units participated.

Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) athletes won the senior men’s and women’s team titles at the National Cross Country Championships. Harmanjot Singh, representing the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), was the winner of the men’s individual 10 km event, clocking 30:33. In the women’s individual 10 km event, RSPB’s Nandani Gupta clocked 35:42.28.

The men’s Under-20 team title went to Uttar Pradesh (22 points), while Maharashtra won the women’s Under-20 trophy (21 points). The top four runners in each of the senior (men and women) and junior (men and women) groups are selected for the Indian team.

The national team also competed at the 2026 World Athletics Cross Country Championships held in Tallahassee, Florida (USA) on 10 January. Gulveer Singh was the leading Indian runner in a very competitive individual 10 km and finished 40th with a time of 30:39.

The Indian mixed relay team (4×2 km) finished 12th overall with a time of 24 minutes 13 seconds. The members of the Indian mixed relay team were Ajay Saroj, Pooja, Yunus Shah and Ankita.
