Ujjain. In the auction held for IPL 2025, KKR had bought Bangladesh’s left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman. Due to the incidents happening against Hindus in Bangladesh, the Sadhus of Ujjain threatened that if Mustafizur Rahman was allowed to play during the league, they would damage the pitch and disrupt the matches. Recently, after two brutal incidents of lynching of Hindus in Bangladesh on blasphemy charges, there is anger among the saints and Hindu religious organizations of India. Mahavir Nath, the chief priest of Ranmukteshwar Mahadev Temple in Ujjain, told reporters, “Ascetic warriors will enter the stadium to stop the matches of Bangladeshi players. The atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh are being ignored. How were the cricketers there allowed to play in India?”
KKR had bought Mustafizur Rahman in the auction for Rs 9.20 crore. An appeal is being made on social media to boycott KKR.
On December 18 in Bangladesh, in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district, Muslims working with Dipu Chandra Das, a 27-year-old Hindu textile factory worker, accused him of allegedly making derogatory remarks about the Prophet Muhammad during an event marking World Arabic Language Day. He was dragged from his place of work at Pioneer Knit Composite Factory, brutally beaten by the mob, hanged from a tree and his body was set on fire on the side of the highway.
The investigation found no direct evidence of blasphemy, and the Rapid Action Battalion arrested several people. The interim government led by Muhammad Yunus condemned this act.
On December 24, another Hindu, Amrit Mandal, 29, was ill-treated at Pangsha in Rajbari. The villagers attacked him. Although the police saved him in critical condition, he died in the hospital.
Bageshwar Dham spiritual leader Dhirendra Shastri, during a visit to Raipur on Friday, condemned the attacks as unfortunate and warned that without government intervention, Hindus in Bangladesh could be wiped out. Dhirendra Shastri said that Bangladeshi citizens who are living illegally in India should be sent to Bangladesh and if Hindus are not safe there, then they should be given asylum in India.
