New Delhi, June 8 (IANS). Liver is a very important organ of the body, which performs many important functions simultaneously. It is also called the ‘chemical factory’ of the body, because it continuously works to keep the body healthy. In such a situation, liver health cannot be ignored. The Health Ministry of the Government of India provides information about ALT test while making people aware about liver health.
The liver not only digests food but also removes toxins from the body and produces many essential proteins, so keeping the liver healthy is important to keep the entire body healthy. The Health Ministry has a clear message that “Don’t wait for warning signs. Know your health with your ALT. The Ministry has appealed to the people to get regular health checkups done, especially those who are obese, diabetic or drink excessive alcohol.
According to the ministry, the liver indicates its condition through a special number ALT. This number may indicate liver problems long before symptoms appear.
The full name of ALT is Alanine Amino Transferase. It is also called SGPT. It is an enzyme found in the liver. When there is any problem in the liver, such as fat accumulation, swelling or any pressure, this enzyme increases in the blood. Normal ALT levels usually range from 7 to 56 U/L. If this level increases, it can be an early warning of liver stress or fatty liver.
According to health experts, due to today’s busy and irregular lifestyle, liver related problems are increasing rapidly. Obesity, excessive alcohol consumption, unhealthy eating habits and less exercise affect the liver the most. The biggest thing is that many liver problems do not show any obvious symptoms in the beginning. When symptoms appear, the problem has progressed considerably.
Health experts say that ALT level can be easily detected by a simple blood test. This test is cheap, easy and available everywhere. By knowing the ALT level in time, a person can make necessary changes in his diet, exercise and lifestyle. This makes it possible to prevent serious diseases like fatty liver, hepatitis or cirrhosis.
