Chandigarh ,. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said that the government has worked to start paddy procurement work from 22 September instead of 1 October in view of the interest of farmers. The government will purchase one grain of the paddy crop of farmers at the minimum support price.
Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini was talking to journalists after inaugurating the procurement work of paddy at Ladwa Grain Mandi in district Kurukshetra on Monday. Earlier, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini started the procurement work of paddy in Ladwa Grain Market and while talking to farmers and traders said that paddy procurement work has been started before the scheduled time on the request of farmers. Not only this, keeping in mind the interest of farmers, farmers had demanded a subsidy on wheat seeds in the last day of Hisar Agricultural Fair. This demand was met as soon as he went to Chandigarh and notification of subsidy on seeds was issued. In front of the Chief Minister, about 100 quintals of paddy of farmers Amit Kumar and Charan Singh were procured by the Food Supply Department in front of the Chief Minister. Last year, the total arrival of PR paddy was 12,00,000 quintals. However, in this season, a total of 5000 quintals of PR paddy have arrived in the grain market. He said that the government is always standing with the farmers. There will be no injustice to any farmer. He said that the government is giving help of Rs 1200 to prevent farmers from burning stubble. Former Minister of State Subhash Sudha, Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena, NAPA Chairperson Sakshi Khurana and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
