New Delhi, 16 September (). BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya attacked former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Shahabuddin Yakub Qureshi. Malaviya termed Qureshi’s recent development in Nepal as a ‘lively democracy’ as ‘immoral and surprising’. Questioning Qureshi’s tenure, he said that this comment is not surprising given his ‘record’.

Amit Malviya shared a video of Shahabuddin Yakub Qureshi on social media platform X. He made serious allegations against the decisions of the Election Commission taken during Qureshi’s tenure.

He wrote in the X post, “Former Chief Election Commissioner SY Qureshi has described recent incidents in Nepal as ‘anarchy’, but ‘sign of lively democracy’. But, this careless comment is not surprising in view of his record. The Election Commission of India had signed a compromise memorandum with the International Foundation For Electoral Systems (IFES) during Qureshi’s tenure. Soros is associated with the Open Society Foundation.

Malaviya claimed, “Even the worse thing is that in a separate conversation, Qureshi himself admitted that after the 2007 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, a ‘big leader’ called him and complained to him, ‘You did not let our bogus voters vote.”

He added, “At that time Qureshi was one of the Election Commissioners and the Samajwadi Party, which is notorious for its Muslim appeasement politics, was in power, but lost the election. If Qureshi knew this, why did he save this leader in these years? Did Samajwadi Party be ‘voting’ votes in these years? Was, why did he never order a special intensive amendment (SIR)? He was the Election Commissioner till 2006-201 and then the Chief Election Commissioner till 2010-2012, it was his constitutional duty to take action. “

Amit Malviya also questioned the former Election Commissioners. He said, “In fact, neither he nor the people after him, whether Ashok Lavasa, OP Rawat or others, did not take any step to clean our compromise voter lists for more than 23 years after the last SIR in 2003? And yet, these people have now become the ‘well-known’ critics of the current SIR in the media.”

He further said, “Do not forget this, the Chief Election Commissioner was appointed by the Prime Minister alone at that time. Today, a three -member panel, including the Leader of the Opposition, takes this decision. The old people are fully in their positions due to the Congress system and it is clearly visible. Now it is time to expose these weak tenures. Those who have lost their duties before, they are no longer a chance, they are not able to teach, but they are not able to teach the nation. Accountability should start from those who had a chance and did nothing. “
