New Delhi, February 24 (). Unidentified assailants opened fire on a car in Delhi’s Kashmere Gate area around 10:10 pm on Tuesday, injuring one person.
According to the police, there were a total of five people in the vehicle, and the attackers fled after the firing. The injured person was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be stable.
Delhi Police DCP North Raja Banthia told reporters at the spot, “We received information at around 10:10 pm that there was firing on a car near Kashmiri Gate. On reaching the spot, we found that four to five rounds had been fired on the car. One person is injured, who has been admitted to the hospital. Our team was immediately activated and investigation has been started.”
DCP Banthia said, “We are working on every aspect of the investigation. On the basis of CCTV footage, statements of witnesses and other technical evidence, efforts will soon be made to identify and arrest the attackers. Maintaining law and order in Delhi is our priority.”
According to police sources, the injured person is calling himself a member of the legal team of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. However, this is his own claim, and the police are yet to officially confirm it. The other four people present in the vehicle at the time of the incident are safe. Police said that the motive of the attack is not yet clear, but it could be related to old rivalry or gang war.
Police reached the spot and seized footage from nearby CCTV cameras. The forensic team has also started investigation. Empty cartridges have been recovered at the site of firing, efforts are being made to identify the weapon by examining them. The police have blocked the surrounding areas and started searching for the suspects.
