US President Donald Trump made a big claim during his visit to North Dakota, saying that his visit was not just limited to a historic event, but it was also the first official flight of the newly designed Air Force One aircraft after 37 years. Trump praised the plane, saying it was a ‘fantastic plane’ and that the flight made his visit even more special. While addressing supporters in Medora, North Dakota on Wednesday (local time), Trump first mentioned Air Force One and then remembered former US President Theodore Roosevelt and praised his contribution. President Donald Trump said, “This was the first official flight of this plane, Air Force One, in 37 years. It’s a wonderful plane. It was a great trip with Doug Burgum and everybody else. During this time, we also talked a lot about Theodore Roosevelt, because he was a really special person.”
The President said that this visit was also special for him because he had come to pay respect to such an American leader whom he has considered as his idol for a long time.
He said, “I’m honoring Theodore Roosevelt. I’ve admired him for a long time. To be honest, I admire very few people, but he’s one of them.”
Donald Trump had reached Medora to attend the inauguration ceremony of Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. With this, he also became the first American President to participate in the inauguration of this library.
During this, President Trump took out Theodore Roosevelt’s Congressional ‘Medal of Honor’ from the Roosevelt Room of the White House and presented it to the library. This was considered the most emotional and historic moment of the ceremony.
US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, who was hosting the event, described Trump’s presence as a ‘historic moment’. He said that when this library will officially open to the general public, the visitors coming there will also be able to listen to a recorded excerpt of Theodore Roosevelt’s famous speech ‘Man in the Arena’ in the voice of President Trump.
“President Trump is our modern day ‘Man in the Arena,’ and we are honored to have him attend the inauguration of this presidential library,” said Doug Burgum.
Trump also praised the new library. He described it as ‘a wonderful museum, a wonderful library and an excellent centre’ and said that it will become a very special place in the times to come.
He said, “I’m confident that this place will be very successful. This is a part of America that I love very much.”
On this occasion, President Trump also announced federal assistance of $7.5 million ($750,000) through the National Endowment for the Humanities for the library’s initial exhibitions.
However, the White House has not shared any additional technical details about the new Air Force One aircraft that Trump mentioned in his speech. Despite this, Trump made it clear that this flight was also one of the most important achievements of this tour.
Let us tell you that Air Force One is not the name of an aircraft, but it is the official air traffic control call sign, which is used when a US Air Force aircraft is flying with the President.
