New Delhi, June 10 (). England captain Harry Brook has secured the first position in the rankings for men’s Test batsmen released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday. Brook has secured the first position by defeating fellow player and former England captain Joe Root. Indian captain Gill has gained 2 places. Gill has moved to eighth position.
Brook moved into the number one spot after scoring a half-century in the first innings during England’s 115-run win against New Zealand in the ICC World Test Championship match at Lord’s. Brook reached the top position for the first time in December 2024. Brooks was one of only two players to score more than fifty runs in the match. Brook had scored 56 runs in the first innings. Travis Head moves into second place. Head has gained one place.
Lord’s Test was not good for Joe Root. He was able to score only one and eight runs in both the innings. They have suffered loss due to this. Root has slipped two places from first to third place.
Indian captain Shubman Gill scored a century in the only Test played against Afghanistan. Thanks to this century, he moved up two places to eighth position.
Australia’s Steve Smith is in fourth place. Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis has moved up one place to fifth position. Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is in sixth place. He has lost one place. South African captain Temba Bavuma is in seventh place. India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal is in ninth place. He has lost one place. Dinesh Chandimal of Sri Lanka has moved up one place to tenth position.
