New Delhi . India has expressed deep concern over the alleged drone attack targeting the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). India described the incident as a dangerous escalation of tensions and appealed to all parties to exercise restraint and return to the path of diplomatic dialogue. “India expresses deep concern over the attack targeting the UAE’s Barakah nuclear plant. Such actions are unacceptable and reflect a dangerous escalation of tensions. We urge all parties to immediately exercise restraint and return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. India’s response comes at a time when tensions are rising in the region and there is growing international concern over attacks on critical infrastructure, especially nuclear installations. Nuclear facilities are considered extremely sensitive under international security standards.
The Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, located in the Al Dhafra region of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is the Arab world’s first operational nuclear power plant and plays a key role in the country’s energy infrastructure. Any threat to such installations has raised global concerns about regional security and nuclear safety.
According to local media reports, a fire broke out at the Barakah nuclear power plant complex in the UAE’s Al Dhafra region on Sunday following a drone attack.
“Abu Dhabi authorities responded to the incident of a fire at an electrical generator outside the internal boundary of the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Al Dhafra area, which was caused by a drone strike,” the Abu Dhabi Media Office said on Thursday.
No one was injured in the incident and there was no impact on radiological protection levels, the statement said.
“The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) has confirmed that the fire has not affected the safety of the plant or the readiness of its essential systems and all units are operating normally,” the statement said.
It stressed that all precautionary measures have been taken and appealed to people to get information only from official sources and avoid spreading rumors or unconfirmed information.
The statement did not provide any information about the origin of the drone strike. Earlier this month, the UAE reported several missiles and drones “launched from Iran” towards several areas of the country.
