Bhopal . Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari on Thursday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi raising questions on the government apathy of the state. He also alleged that thousands of posts are vacant in the Agriculture Department due to which farmers are in dire straits.
Congress state president Jitu Patwari said in a letter to Prime Minister Modi that Madhya Pradesh is called the agricultural state of the country, but the agricultural system of the state is dying under the burden of government apathy. The state government has declared the year 2026 as the Year of Agricultural Welfare but the condition of the government machinery is making a mockery of this declaration. Referring to the situation of the State Agriculture Department, the Congress State President said that 14 and a half thousand posts are sanctioned in the state, out of which about 8 and a half thousand posts are lying vacant. Its clear implication is that 60 percent of the staff is absent. In such a situation, how is it possible to solve the problems of farmers which is claimed by the government? This situation is not limited only to the Agriculture Department, but is the situation of almost all the allied departments related to agriculture.
The country’s Agriculture Minister is Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who has connections with Madhya Pradesh and has also been the Chief Minister of the state for almost two decades. Congress leader Jitu Patwari further wrote that Chauhan, who worked as the Agriculture Minister in the Central Government, was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for almost two decades. If the agricultural system had been strengthened during that long tenure, then the agricultural system of the state would not have been so empty and weak today.
He has demanded from the Prime Minister that the status of vacant posts of agriculture and related departments in the state should be immediately reviewed. At the same time, direct the state government to quickly start the recruitment process in the departments related to farmers and prepare a national strategy to increase the institutional capacity at the field level for effective implementation of the agricultural scheme.
