Imphal. Security forces in Manipur have arrested seven militants, including two women cadre, from different districts in the last 24 hours. Arms and ammunition have been recovered from the arrested terrorist women. Five terrorists of the banned United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) were arrested from different places in Imphal West, Imphal East and Bishnupur district, a police official said. He said that the central and state security forces have arrested two active women cadres of UNLF (Koireng faction) from Moirangkampu Sazeb Makha Leikai area of Imphal East district. The arrested terrorists have been identified as Takhelambam Sanathoi Chanu alias Loingkapi alias Sanathoi (19) and Kongbrailakpam Rameshwari Devi alias Langlen alias Bemma alias Buchu (19) of Imphal East district. Two mobile phones were seized from them.
Manipur Police arrested a drug dealer Bessamayum Yaibi (47) from Porompat Pangal Leirak area of Imphal East district. Heroin hidden in seven soap boxes was seized from him. The estimated value of the drugs was Rs 16 lakh.
Security forces also recovered some arms and ammunition from Kakching district. The recovered arms and ammunition included one SLR, a locally made bolt action sniper rifle, a double-barreled bolt rifle, a single-barreled bolt rifle, a locally made pistol and a 36 HE hand grenade.
Security forces are continuing a large-scale operation against terrorists, with search operations being carried out in border, mixed-populated and sensitive areas in the districts.
A total of 113 checkpoints/checkpoints have been set up in both valley and hill districts in Manipur to curb any anti-social activities.
Police warned, “The authenticity of the video or audio clip being circulated without any basis can be confirmed from the Central Control Room. Legal action will be taken against uploading and circulating fake posts on social media.”
