Market pressure on newspapers and literature increased with time: Sindal

Jaar symposium organized on completion of two hundred years of Hindi journalism

Jodhpur. ‘Whenever politics faltered, literature took over’, the main speaker, nationally renowned lyricist Dinesh Sindal, expressed this thought in the seminar organized by Jodhpur unit of Journalist Association of Rajasthan (JAR) on the occasion of completion of two hundred years of Hindi journalism at Madan-Savitri Daga Smriti Bhawan, Nehru Park on the topic ‘Contribution of literature in Hindi journalism’. He said that journalism and literature complement each other. Referring to the incident of Jawaharlal Nehru and national poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, he said that when politics falters, literature works to support it. The main speakers in the program were Dinesh Sindal, Ayodhya Prasad Gaur and senior litterateur Satyen Vyas. While the welcome speech was given by Jar’s District President Syed Munawwar Ali. Sindal said that newspapers work for social reform and they play an important role in forming public opinion. From the independence movement till the present time, many social and political changes have been possible through journalism. He said that with time, market pressure on newspapers and literature has increased, due to which advertisements have become prominent and news has become secondary.
He said that literature works to unite people, whereas markets and politics often try to divide people. Referring to the incident of Nehru and Dinkar, he said that when politics will falter, then literature will take care of it. He said that the printed word has its own credibility and for a long time people have had unwavering faith in newspapers.
Special guest Ayodhya Prasad Gaur said that the sun of Hindi journalism that rose two hundred years ago is still illuminating democracy. He said that the beauty of language and expression of ideas in news has been the identity of Hindi journalism. In the present times, citizen journalism has got a boost and after the Covid period, it has gained further momentum. There are new challenges before journalism in the era of Linguistic Artificial Intelligence (AI), but Hindi journalism is continuously progressing.
In the seminar, JAR President Ali remembered the contribution of many journalists and litterateurs including Bharatendu Harishchandra, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, Rajendra Mathur, Shrikant Verma. Besides, the contribution of many personalities including Sher-e-Rajasthan Jaynarayan Vyas, Nemichand Jain Bhavuk, Umraoji Bohra, Ganeshilal Vyas, Ramesh Pareek, Manak Motmani and Dinesh Joshi in the journalism of Jodhpur was also remembered.
Poet and critic Prof. in the program. Kaushalnath Upadhyay, story writer Hariprakash Rathi, Mahesh Khetani, K.D. Many dignitaries including Israni, Rajesh Sharma, Gopal Singh Rathore, Ramji Vyas, Manoj Bohra, Mukesh Shrimali, Pramod Vaishnav, Arun Mathur, Chetan Chauhan, Chhagan Rao, Deepa Parihar, Neelam Vyas, Yash Pareek, Lalji Prajapat, Kaluram Karwal, Harish Devnani, Shivnarayan Sharma, Danish Ali and Prem Parihar were present. The program was conducted by Satyen Vyas. In the end Manoj Bohra expressed his gratitude.
