Bhopal. Emphasizing the need for proper arrangements, directed all the districts to ensure peaceful, fair and safe conduct of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 to be held on May 3. Chairing a state-level review meeting through video conference with Superintendents of Police, Makwana said that this examination is very sensitive as it affects the future of lakhs of students. He said that NEET is a very important examination which is related to the future of the students, hence every process should be error-free, transparent and secure, and also directed the officials to adopt a ‘zero-tolerance’ attitude towards any lapse.
He directed that physical inspection of all examination centres, strong rooms and examination halls should be done in advance and security arrangements should be further strengthened.
Adequate deployment of police personnel as well as use of Handheld Metal Detectors (HHMDs) have been made mandatory to ensure thorough screening of candidates and ensure that they do not face any inconvenience during entry and exit from the examination centres.
The DGP stressed on keeping a strict vigil on the movement of question papers. He said police escort must be provided during transportation between banks, post offices, strong rooms and examination centres, and tracking of vehicles through dashcams must be ensured on designated routes.
Continuous monitoring will also be maintained until the OMR sheets and other examination materials are returned safely after the examination is over.
Highlighting the potential risks, Makwana ordered extra vigilance in sensitive areas, including the Chambal region and border districts, to prevent attempts of paper leak or organized copying. He further said that there will be a complete ban on entry of any unauthorized person around the examination centres.
He also directed to take immediate action against misinformation or rumors spreading on social media platforms. Cyber commandos and cyber cells will be deployed to monitor digital platforms and detect suspicious activities.
Additional Director General of Police A. Sai Manohar said improvements have been made learning from the 2024 incidents, with special focus on centre-level security and mandatory CCTV coverage at all 283 centres.
Deputy Inspector General Tarun Nayak said that this examination will be conducted for about 1.18 lakh candidates in 30 cities, in which the maximum number of examination centers have been made in Indore.
Officials said 38 trained cyber commandos will be deployed to monitor the network, and strict legal action, including FIR, will be taken against anyone found involved in paper leak, impersonation or organized cheating.
