New Delhi. Nirmohi Akhara has once again reached the Supreme Court regarding the alleged donation embezzlement case related to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple of Ayodhya and the temple management. The Akhara has urged the court to give directions on the restructuring of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, forensic audit of its financial transactions and several issues related to the temple management. A hearing is proposed on July 20 on some petitions related to this case demanding investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Nirmohi Akhara has said in its petition that in the year 2019, the five-member Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court, while giving its verdict on the Ayodhya land dispute, had directed the Central Government to form a trust for the construction of Ram Temple. But, the Akhara claims that the Trust has not been formed and operated in accordance with the spirit of the judgment. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust should be reorganized as a public trust. Also, an independent forensic audit of all financial and property related transactions of the Trust should be conducted, so that any kind of irregularity can be investigated impartially. Nirmohi Akhara has also recently referred to allegations of alleged embezzlement of donations and valuables offered by devotees at the Ram temple. The Akhara says that the state government has constituted a SIT to investigate these allegations. In such a situation, a detailed investigation of the financial records and assets of the trust is also necessary. It has also been said in the petition that the prescribed representation for Nirmohi Akhara in the Trust was not given as per its tradition and rules. The Akhara has also raised questions on the nomination of Mahant Dinendra Das, saying that his selection was not done as per the prescribed procedure.
The Akhara has also lodged an objection on the issue of installation of the statue. He says that the status of the original dispute has changed with the consecration of the new idol in the sanctum sanctorum. Therefore, instructions should be given to re-install the original idols installed in the sanctum sanctorum between 1950 and 1982.
However, Nirmohi Akhara has clarified that it is not challenging the historic decision of the year 2019 of the Supreme Court. Its purpose is only to obtain necessary directions from the court on issues related to correct implementation of the judgment, accountability of the Trust, transparency and temple management.
