Ajmer. A heart-wrenching news has emerged from the city of education, Ajmer, which has raised deep questions on security and emergency medical arrangements. Mohammad Elmutasir, a 22-year-old student who had come from Sudan (Africa) with dreams of a bright future to study B-Pharma, died tragically due to electrocution. A small carelessness extinguished the flame of a cheerful young man’s life forever.
A rod and the silence of death Mohammad Eelmutsir, a second year B-Pharma student at Bhagwant University, lived in flat number 106 of ‘Aravalli Homes’ located on Zanana Hospital Road. On Monday night, when he was heating water with an electric rod in the bathroom for bathing, perhaps inadvertently his hand touched the water or the rod. Mohammad screamed as soon as he got a strong blow. Fellow students present in the room immediately ran to help, but by then something untoward had happened.
The rounds of hospitals and the indifference of the system
The most poignant aspect of this incident was the time when Mohammed was struggling between life and death. Fellow students took her in a painful condition to the nearby Government Janana Hospital, but the staff present there gave up citing that it was a ‘women’s hospital’. Time was slipping from our hands like sand. The students took him to Kshetrapal Hospital in Panchsheel, but there too he was declared dead and sent to JLN Hospital. Ultimately the doctors of JLN Hospital declared him dead.
Awaiting embassy consent
The deceased Mohammed was a resident of Kosti, Sudan. Christian Ganj police station, showing sensitivity, has kept the body safe in the mortuary of JLN Hospital. Police officials have informed the matter to CID and SP office. Now the consent of the family members or their arrival is being awaited through Sudan Embassy, only after which the postmortem process will be completed.
A warning everyone should hear
This accident is a warning to every student and citizen who makes hasty and unsafe use of electrical appliances. The administration and university management will also now have to seriously consider the safety of foreign students and emergency protocols for them.
Administrative sensitivity: The district administration and police department are in constant touch with the foreign embassy in this matter so that the mortal remains of the deceased can be sent to their homeland with full respect.
