New Delhi, November 16 (). Sunil Sethi, member of the legal affairs sub-committee of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), has resigned from the committee. Sethi wrote a letter to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Mithun Manhas informing him that he was formally resigning from his role in the state association.

A copy of this resignation letter is with , in which Sunil Sethi has written, “I was appointed a member of the sub-committee to look after the affairs of the JKCA in 2021 and I am serving in the same capacity. Since the Supreme Court has directed the conduct of JKCA elections, the attempt to appoint a new Lokpal has not been approved by the election officer till the constitution of the General Body. Unfortunately, back-dated orders are being issued by the former Lokpal, which is now in March. These orders date back to 2025, when no such order was passed and now I have been informed of the same. These orders are changing the club management and voting rights.”

He wrote, “This is to change the voting process in which I do not wish to be involved. Therefore, I am tendering my resignation from the membership of the sub-committee. Please accept this and relieve me. I am grateful for the opportunity the Board has given me.”

This development has come to light after the order given by the Supreme Court on October 27, which ordered the conduct of JKCA elections within 12 weeks under the supervision of former Chief Election Commissioner Achal Kumar Jyoti.

In June 2021, Sethi and Manhas, along with Brigadier (retd) Anil Gupta, were included in the three-member JKCA sub-committee formed by the BCCI to oversee the day-to-day operations of the association.

Manhas was involved with cricket operations and development, while Anil Gupta was responsible for administrative matters. After Manhas became the BCCI president on September 28, former Jammu and Kashmir captain Vidya Bhaskar replaced him in the JKCA sub-committee.
