New Delhi, January 25 (). ICC has given official entry to Scotland in T20 World Cup 2026. After Bangladesh’s decision to stay out of the World Cup, ICC gave a chance to Scotland. Cricket Scotland has thanked ICC for this opportunity.
Scotland has been placed in Group C in place of Bangladesh. Other teams in this group are England, West Indies, Nepal and Italy.
Scotland, of course, did not qualify for the World Cup, and there is undoubtedly a chance for them after Bangladesh’s refusal to play in the T20 World Cup 2026. Despite this, Scotland cannot be taken lightly. This is Scotland’s seventh T20 World Cup, and the West Indies team, which has won the T20 World Cup title twice along with giving tough competition to big teams in the past, has faced defeat against Scotland. West Indies won the title in 2012 and 2016. This time also West Indies is in Group C with Scotland.
Scotland also gave a tough competition to Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024. Australia could achieve the target of 181 runs on the fourth ball of the 20th over. If Stoinis had not scored 59 runs in 29 balls, the result of the match could have been opposite for Australia.
Therefore, Scotland cannot be taken lightly. The team is completely capable of defeating all the teams in its group. The team will definitely hope to win against Nepal and Italy.
This is Scotland’s seventh World Cup. In the past, this team has participated in 2007, 2009, 2016, 2021, 2022 and 2024 editions. The team did not qualify in the 2010, 2012 and 2014 editions.
