Chennai . Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay is preparing for an important visit to New Delhi, which is considered important from both political and administrative points of view. Unlike his previous visit to Delhi as a party leader in connection with the inquiry into the Karur stampede case, this time Vijay will reach the national capital as the chief minister. The main objective of his visit is said to be to strengthen political ties and to secure economic assistance for the state. Vijay had earlier appeared before the CBI on January 12 and 19 in connection with the investigation into the stampede case that took place at a public meeting held on September 27 last year in Karur. 41 people had died in this accident.
However, this time the focus of his tour is likely to be completely different. According to sources, Chief Minister Vijay plans to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
It is being told that time has been sought through the Prime Minister’s Office to meet the Prime Minister. However, the meeting has not been confirmed yet due to the Prime Minister’s busy government and political schedules.
According to officials, as soon as the Chief Minister gets time, he can leave for Delhi immediately. Apart from political meetings, Vijay will also take a detailed economic agenda to address the economic challenges of the state.
Sources say that the Chief Minister recently held a meeting with senior finance officials to review the financial position of the state and discuss measures to overcome the economic pressures.
During the meeting, officials reportedly told Vijay that increasing dialogue with the central government and securing more financial assistance would be the most practical solution for now. Vijay also discussed options for mobilizing resources independently, but officials pointed out that immediate alternative measures would be difficult as preparations for the 2026-27 state budget begin.
Now officials are said to be preparing a list of demands and financial proposals, which will be presented during the meeting with the Prime Minister. At the same time, according to political sources, Vijay has also talked to Rahul Gandhi on phone regarding the proposed Delhi visit.
