The first dense fog of the winter season covered Delhi and Noida today. The condition of air pollution has worsened in both the cities. Thick blanket of fog and haze turned Delhi and Noida into gas chambers. There was no air, due to which it felt like suffocation. Visibility was zero due to fog and mist. The whole of Delhi had disappeared, and not a single person was visible on the streets, leave alone a vehicle.

Bikes and cars were seen moving on the roads.

Traffic was affected due to low visibility in the entire NCR including Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad. People found it difficult even to do their daily work. Due to zero visibility, vehicles were seen moving on the roads. People said that from around 2:30 am to 5 am the visibility was up to 100 meters, but after 6 am the visibility reduced to 50 meters. With this, the average AQI of Delhi had reached 552, which has now come down to 466 due to some sunlight.

These areas of Delhi still remain in the red zone

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), on Monday, December 15, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi, Noida and Greater Noida remained between 400 and 500. Many areas of Delhi remained in the red zone. Today at 7 am, Delhi’s AQI was 481, Noida’s 557 and Greater Noida’s 422.

AQI 493 in Akshardham area, 474 on Barakhamba Road, 454 in Burari, 466 in Sonia Vihar, 412 in Najafgarh, 483 in RK Puram, 417 on Mandir Marg, 458 in Mundka, 410 around IIT Delhi, 417 on Lodhi Road, 447 in Alipore, 438 in Chandni Chowk, It was 500 in Rohini Wazirpur and 498 in Jahangirpuri.

40 flights canceled and 4 diverted
Let us tell you that due to zero visibility in Delhi, 40 flights were canceled and 4 diverted from IGI Airport today. In view of the fog and mist, all airlines including IndiGo had issued travel advisories and warned people. The airport authority said that the flights are operating in CAT-III condition, due to which many flights have been delayed.

The airline has issued an advisory stating that landing and takeoff may be delayed due to low visibility and fog. Therefore, passengers are requested to check the status of their flights through the airline’s website or app. We request your cooperation in this difficult time.
