QS Best Student Cities Ranking 2027: For students looking for the best cities in the country or abroad for higher education, global higher education analytics firm ‘QS Quacquarelli Symonds’ has released the latest report of QS Best Student Cities Ranking 2027. Indian cities have performed brilliantly in this international ranking and have registered their strong presence at the global level. The country’s financial capital Mumbai has emerged as the best student city in India, while the country’s capital Delhi has been declared the most affordable student city in the world.
Seoul remained number-1 in the global list
Internationally, South Korea’s capital Seoul has retained its first position as the world’s best student city with a perfect score of 100. Japan’s capital Tokyo stood at second place and Britain’s capital London stood at third place. Australia’s Melbourne stood at fourth position, while Germany’s Munich and Australia’s Sydney jointly stood at fifth position. In the list of top-10 cities, Paris is at 7th, Berlin at 8th, Vienna at 9th and Zurich at 10th.
Great performance by Indian cities: Mumbai at 91st and Delhi at 99th
Mumbai has recorded the biggest jump among Indian cities. Mumbai has jumped 7 places from last year’s 98th position to 91st position in the world and is on top in India with an overall score of 61.8. Mumbai has been ranked 34th in the world in terms of employment opportunities after education and 12th in terms of affordable education.
At the same time, Delhi also improved from 104th position to 99th position and made a place in the top-100 for the first time. Delhi has stood first in the world in the affordability category by achieving the highest score of 93.9. The average annual tuition fee for international students in Delhi is around US$2,700 (about Rs 2.6 lakh). Also, Delhi has got 29th rank in employer activity. Apart from this, Bengaluru jointly stood at 114th and Chennai at 123rd.
On what parameters is this ranking prepared?
The QS ranking includes those cities which have a population of at least 2.5 lakh and where at least two universities are included in the global ranking. This year, 150 cities around the world have been evaluated based on six key categories—university quality, employability, affordability, livability, student diversity and student experience.
