New Delhi, June 10 (IANS). World Yoga Day 2026 is going to be celebrated in a few days now. Even before this special occasion, the Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India is continuously appealing to the countrymen to include Yogasana in their daily routine. Practicing correct asanas not only improves physical health but also keeps the mind happy and calm.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Yoga is not just physical exercise, but it is the ancient Indian science of keeping both body and mind healthy. Nowadays, due to busy lifestyle, work pressure and stress, people are often facing problems like hypertension or high blood pressure. In such a situation, yoga experts advise to practice Baddha Konasana regularly, which is very beneficial.
Baddha Konasana is also called ‘Bound Angle Pose’. This is an easily effective asana. To do this, sit straight on the ground, bring the heels of both the feet together and open the knees outwards. Hold the toes of the feet with both hands and sit straight and take a deep breath. By staying in this asana for some time, the muscles of the lower part of the body become active, blood circulation improves and the stress accumulated in the body gradually reduces.
Yoga experts say that Baddha Konasana activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Due to this, heartbeat remains normal, blood pressure is controlled and the mind gets deep peace. Practicing this asana while taking deep breaths removes the fatigue and negative thoughts of the whole day. The mood remains good and the stress level reduces significantly.
Experts believe that by including yoga even for just 15 minutes daily, a person feels energetic and positive. This asana is especially beneficial for those people who are suffering from the problem of hypertension for a long time. However, before starting any new asana, definitely consult a yoga instructor.
The Ministry has requested all citizens, especially youth, middle-aged and elderly people to make this International Yoga Day memorable and make Yoga a part of life.
