New Delhi, May 22 (IANS). Taking a giant leap towards universalisation and expanding the digital reach of the Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme, more than 100 crore health records have been linked to the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (Abha).
Many of the Hindi speaking states have performed very well in linking health records under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). These states include Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat.
This achievement is an important step towards building an integrated, citizen-centric and interconnected digital healthcare ecosystem in the country.
One special thing about ABDM is that there has been a tremendous increase in registrations in the last few months. According to estimates, this number has doubled in the last one and a half years.
The ministry statement said, “ABDM has increased the number of linked health records from 50 crore in February 2025 to more than 100 crore in just 15 months. Now about 10 crore health records are being linked every two to three months. From less than 1,000 linked records in the initial phase to more than 100 crore records today, ABDM is the world’s largest digital health provider. It has become one of the ecosystems.”
The project, being implemented by the National Health Authority under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, reflects the growing adoption of ABDM among government health programmes, state health platforms, public digital systems and private health technology partners.
Currently, more than 450 public and private health technology solutions have been successfully integrated into the ABDM ecosystem.
Importantly, Aabha acts as a unique digital health identity, enabling citizens to securely link and access their health records between hospitals, clinics, laboratories and healthcare providers.
Commenting on this significant achievement, Dr Sunil Kumar Burnwal, CEO, National Health Authority, said, “Linking over 100 crore health records to Aabha is an important milestone in the journey of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. This reflects the growing adoption of digital health services across government programmes, states, health centers and private technology partners. Health records linked to Aabha empower citizens by giving them secure and consent-based access to their health information, and streamline treatment across the healthcare system. “Helps maintain continuity.”
