New Delhi, May 16 (IANS). Kidney is a very important organ of our body, which works to purify the blood, remove toxic substances from the body and maintain water balance. If the kidneys do not function properly then it starts affecting the entire body. Problems like fatigue, swelling, problems related to urination and weakness in the body start increasing gradually. In such a situation, the Ministry of AYUSH advises to do yoga. Among all the yogasanas, Dhanurasana is considered very beneficial.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Dhanurasana makes the body flexible. It also benefits important organs like stomach, spine, lungs and kidneys. In this yoga asana the body is in the shape of a bow. When a person does Dhanurasana, there is a stretch and slight pressure in the area around the stomach and waist. This process is considered beneficial for the kidneys.
While doing Dhanurasana, the body turns backwards, due to which the organs located between the stomach and back are activated. During this period, blood circulation around the kidneys starts improving. When blood flow reaches any organ properly, it gets oxygen and nutrition in better quantity. This maintains proper functioning of the kidneys.
Dhanurasana reduces stress. Stress directly affects hormones and blood pressure, the effect of which can also be seen on the kidneys. In such a situation, regular practice of Dhanurasana can be helpful in keeping the mind calm and reducing the pressure on the internal organs of the body.
Dhanurasana helps in making the spine flexible and is very beneficial for people who work sitting for long hours. This reduces stiffness in the back and waist. It also improves breathing ability.
Apart from this, the stretch in the abdominal area in Dhanurasana also improves digestion. It activates the stomach muscles, which can provide relief from problems like constipation and indigestion. It increases energy in the body.
However, the Ministry of AYUSH advises that people who have back pain, hernia, high blood pressure or serious stomach related problems should practice it only after consulting a doctor or yoga instructor.
