New Delhi, March 9 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday appealed to the country’s educational institutions to develop their campuses as centers of industry collaboration and research-based education, so that students can get real-world experience.
The Prime Minister said this while addressing a webinar organized after the budget through virtual medium. During this, he discussed better coordination between education, employment and entrepreneurship and also emphasized on promoting AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics) sector.
The Prime Minister said that India is rapidly moving towards an innovation-based economy. He said that this webinar should have a serious discussion on how the campuses of educational institutions can be developed as centers of industry collaboration and research based learning.
He also stressed the need for better coordination between institutions, industry and academia. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that these discussions will prepare a strong roadmap for the future and further strengthen the foundation of a developed India.
PM Modi said that the changing thinking of the youth of India is the biggest strength of the country and it is necessary to develop the education system accordingly.
He said that the government is continuously making efforts to link education with employment and entrepreneurship.
The Prime Minister said that the New Education Policy (NEP) provides the basis from which the curriculum can be tailored to market needs and the real economy. This is especially needed in areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation and digital economy.
He said that the process of linking the education system with the real world economy needs to be accelerated.
The Prime Minister also expressed pride in the increasing participation of women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields and said the government is committed to providing equal opportunities to daughters in the technologies of the future.
Along with this, he expressed the need to create a strong research ecosystem, where young researchers can get full opportunities for new thinking and experiments without any hindrance.
He said that we have to create such an environment where young researchers can work openly on new discoveries and new ideas.
