Farrukhabad, October 15 (IANS). In view of the festival of Diwali, the health department of Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh is on full alert mode. Special preparations have been made in all government hospitals including the district hospital. A 10-bed burn ward has been created in the district hospital to deal with accidents, especially burns and eye injuries, caused by fireworks during Diwali.
Apart from this, burn wards of two beds each have been activated in all Community Health Centers (CHCs). All ENT surgeons have been put on duty, who will be deployed on the day of Diwali and the surrounding days.
Speaking to IANS, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Avanendra Kumar said that in view of the festival of Diwali, the health department has completed all necessary preparations.
“A 10-bed burn ward at District Hospital Lohia and two-bed burn wards each in all community health centers have been activated. Adequate quantities of medicines, such as eye drops, have been made available to deal with accidents caused by fireworks, especially eye injuries,” he said.
He further said that complaints of eye injury or irritation during fireworks are common. Keeping this in mind, all ENT surgeons have been specially deployed. All surgeons will be on duty on the day of Diwali so that immediate treatment can be available in case of any emergency. Along with this, the health department has strengthened emergency services in all hospitals.
The Health Department has appealed to the people to use fireworks with caution.
Dr. Avanendra Kumar said, “Enjoy fireworks, but take special care of safety. Keep children away from fireworks and in case of any accident, immediately contact the nearest health center.”
The district administration and health department have ensured that adequate quantities of medicines and medical equipment are available in all government hospitals.
Besides this, additional medical staff have been deployed to deal with the emergency situation. It is clear from the preparations of the Health Department that the administration is fully prepared to deal with any emergency during Diwali.
