Shimla, June 21 (IANS). Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu on Sunday presided over the International Yoga Day program organized by the Department of AYUSH at the synthetic track ground of Sports Authority of India at Anu in Hamirpur district. The Chief Minister performed yoga for about 45 minutes with around 2,000 people (elderly, youth and children).
Earlier, the Chief Minister started the yoga session by lighting the traditional lamp and worshiping Lord Dhanvantari. He also released a booklet related to International Yoga Day. This booklet contains a concise collection of essential information about various asanas and exercises of yoga.
After the yoga session, the Chief Minister interacted with the young trainees and players. He said that the government is committed to providing world-class facilities to talented players. A modern indoor stadium is being built in Nadaun at a cost of about Rs 125 crore. This stadium will be dedicated to the players of the state later this year. It will have international level facilities for 14 sports including swimming, badminton, volleyball and tennis.
The Chief Minister said that the government has started big cash prizes for those who win medals in international competitions. In the Asian Games, gold medal winners will get Rs 3 crore, silver medal winners will get Rs 2 crore and bronze medal winners will get Rs 1.5 crore.
Similarly, cash prizes worth crores of rupees are also being given to players who have performed well in the Olympic Games and other international competitions. He said that immediately after assuming office three and a half years ago, the government had significantly increased the diet allowance for the players. Arrangements have also been made for the players to travel in airplanes and air-conditioned trains. The Chief Minister said that adequate budget provision is being made for the repair and renovation of the synthetic track ground at Anu.
