Noida, July 6 (IANS). After the arrival of monsoon, the effect of continuous changes in weather is now clearly visible on people’s health. Sometimes strong sunlight and humidity and sometimes sudden rains have increased the risk of viral infections. The number of patients suffering from viral fever, cold, headache, throat infection and skin related problems is continuously increasing in the government hospitals of the district. The situation is such that long queues of patients are being seen in both OPD and emergency of hospitals.

Last Saturday, OPD of more than 2000 patients was registered in the district hospital in a single day, while a large number of patients also came for treatment in emergency. According to the hospital administration, the number of patients has increased continuously in the last few days. Due to normal OPD being closed on Sunday, a large number of patients are turning to the emergency ward.

According to doctors, most of the patients reaching the hospital these days are suffering from complaints like viral fever, cold, throat infection, headache, vomiting, diarrhea and high fever. Initial symptoms like dengue are also visible in some patients, who are being examined. Doctors have appealed to people not to consume medicines without doctor’s advice and to reach the hospital immediately if symptoms appear.

Health experts say that sudden rain after intense heat increases the moisture in the atmosphere, due to which viruses and bacteria spread rapidly. Apart from this, due to accumulation of water at many places, breeding of mosquitoes also increases, which can increase the risk of dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. According to the doctors of the hospital, after the first rain, the number of patients has increased by about 25 percent. If the weather continues to change like this in the coming days, the number of patients may increase further. Therefore, the health department has advised people to be cautious.

Doctors advise that in case of high fever, persistent cough or throat infection, contact the doctor immediately. Do not take antibiotics or other medicines without medical advice. Drink clean, boiled or filtered water. Avoid getting wet during rain and wear dry clothes immediately. Do not allow water to accumulate in and around the house, so that breeding of mosquitoes can be prevented. Eat light, fresh and nutritious food and take adequate rest.

The health department says that even a little carelessness during monsoon can cause serious infection. In such a situation, people should take special care of personal hygiene and seek medical advice immediately if any symptoms appear.
