Today’s youth are trapped in the fast-paced digital world. Every moment they get pulled towards mobile phones, social media and apps. While this technology makes our world easier and more entertaining, it also has a significant impact on our mental health. Spending too much time on mobile phones not only affects the eyes and body, but it also affects the thinking ability, decision-making power and even mental balance. Therefore, in this digital age it has become important for every youth to regain their mental and emotional balance. Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj, founder of Vishwa Jagriti Mission, explains how to take care of mental health in the digital age.
What is the effect of screen time?
Constantly being in front of the screen disturbs the emotional balance. This is the reason why today’s youth are suffering from lack of attention, quick anger and mental fatigue. Creativity is decreasing due to excessive screen time. Long-term goals and discipline are weakening among the youth. Likes, comments and shares are creating short-term gratification in the subconscious mind of the youth, which leads to a feeling of emptiness. To fill this void, the youth are unable to sit idle even for a moment, and all this is hindering their development.
Do these things for mental peace:
Meditate: For mental peace, sit comfortably in a quiet place. Close your eyes and take deep breaths. Practice this meditation daily for 5 to 10 minutes. This practice gives instant mental peace and relieves social media stress.
Take quiet breaks: Be quiet for 15 to 20 minutes every day. Keep your mobile phone away from you. Pay attention to the sounds around you. Observe whatever is happening around you. During this time, don’t react to whatever is happening; Just stay calm. Doing this reduces mental fatigue.
Digital Detox: Digital detox means taking a break from smartphones, computers and social media for some time to gain mental peace. Reducing screen time reduces digital addiction and improves mental health.
