New Delhi, November 11 (IANS). Makhana is a perfect snack for every fitness lover. It is low in calories, high in protein and rich in fiber, which helps in controlling weight. It also contains antioxidants and minerals, which are beneficial for the heart and digestive system. This is a healthy, crispy and tasty option to satisfy hunger and increase energy.
Actually, it is the seed of the lotus plant, which grows in a pond or lake. After drying and lightly roasting, it becomes crunchy and slightly sweet in taste. Despite being small, Makhana is rich in nutrients. Minerals like protein, carbohydrate, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium are present in it.
Makhana helps in weight loss because it is low in calories and high in fiber. It is a good source of calcium to strengthen bones. Makhana also helps in controlling blood sugar, hence diabetic patients can eat it comfortably.
