New Delhi, December 7 (IANS). Joint pain, morning stiffness, making noise while walking and difficulty climbing stairs are the early signs of arthritis. It is said in Ayurveda that the main cause of arthritis is mango.
Ayurvedacharya describes it as very painful. That is, if Aam (undigested food) and Vata dosha together accumulate in the joints, it causes a lot of problems in the form of arthritis. Ayurveda also tells ways of prevention and relief from this.
According to Ayurveda, when the digestive fire slows down, the food is not digested completely and starts getting accumulated in the body as ‘aam’. It reaches the joints with common blood and combines with Vata dosha to cause pain, swelling and stiffness. If we look at other causes of arthritis, then constant cold, stale, refrigerator items, eating too much curd, drinking less water, eating late at night, irregular daily routine along with deficiency of calcium, Vitamin-D and Omega-3, excess weight, old injury, wrong posture are also the reasons.
At the same time, this disease can also occur due to less sunlight, thyroid or diabetes, someone in the family having arthritis and hormonal changes.
Doctors say that the initial symptoms of arthritis such as stiffness in hands and feet after waking up in the morning, swelling in fingers, strain while climbing stairs or getting up from a chair, feeling of mild pain or heat when pressing the joint, ‘chopping’ sound from the joints while walking, increase in pain due to cold wind or change in weather or loss of sleep due to pain at night, should not be ignored.
People often ignore these small signs considering them to be the effect of age or fatigue, which can be dangerous. People above 40 years of age, those who are obese, stay away from sunlight, do not exercise, eat fried and heavy food, and those whose lifestyle is irregular, are quickly surrounded by ‘mango’.
Easy measures for prevention have been suggested in Ayurveda. For this, do light yoga and walking in the morning, warm the joints with lukewarm water, regular consumption of turmeric, ginger, fenugreek, celery, reduce cold things, curd, fridge food. One must take sunlight for at least 15 minutes daily. One should control weight and drink plenty of water.
