Geneva, 24 September (IANS). The World Health Organization (WHO) denied US President Donald Trump’s statement in which he made a statement ‘threat of autism from the use of paracetamol during pregnancy’.

During an event at the White House on Monday (22 September), Trump called pregnant women to “face” their health problems rather than taking acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol) in the tilanol.

The United Nations Health Association said in a statement on Wednesday, “There is no decisive scientific evidence that confirms a possible relationship between the use and autism of acetaminophen (also known as paracetamol) during pregnancy.”

According to data from the World Health Organization, around 6.2 million people worldwide (1 out of 127) suffer from autism spectrum disorder – which is related to brain development.

Although awareness and diagnosis has improved in recent years, the exact reason behind this situation is not yet known, and many factors are considered responsible for this.

The World Health Organization said, “Extensive research has been done over the past decade, including large -scale studies investigating the relationship between the use of acetaminophen during pregnancy. At present, no research has established any consistent relationship.”

Acetaminophen is the most common over-the-counter medicine taken during pregnancy, more than 50 percent of pregnant women worldwide use this medicine. Pregnant women use it widely for headache, pain or fever.

Regulators and clinical agencies have described its use in pregnancy as safe.

But Trump said that “it is not right to take tilanol”, as well as he urged pregnant women to “try not to take it out of life”. He further said that its use can be correct only in “extremely high fever”.

The World Health Organization has advised all women to follow the advice of their doctors or health workers, which can help assess personal conditions and advise the necessary medicines.

The World Health Organization said, “During pregnancy, especially in the first three months, any drug should be used carefully and according to the advice of doctors.”

At the same time, on the vaccination of children, the global health institution said that vaccination programs for children are “developed through careful, comprehensive and evidence-based process”.

The World Health Organization said that it has “saved the lives of about 15.4 crore people in the last 50 years” and protects children, adolescents and adults from 30 infectious diseases.
