New Delhi, February 14 (IANS). By sitting in wrong posture for hours, not only the bones and muscles become weak but the body also becomes vulnerable to many diseases. In such a situation, experts recommend practicing simple Dhanurasana for just a few minutes. This asana keeps both body and mind healthy.

The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has shared information about Saral Dhanurasana to promote health through yoga. This asana is an easy form of Dhanurasana, which shapes the body like a bow. It not only makes the spine strong and flexible, but also helps in improving the digestive system, reducing stress and improving health.

With its regular practice, bent shoulders become straight, back problems go away and energy levels increase. Saral Dhanurasana is an easy yoga pose which can be performed easily even by people at the initial stage of practice. It massages the abdominal organs, thereby reducing problems like constipation and indigestion. Additionally, it is helpful in keeping the thyroid and adrenal glands balanced, controls hormonal imbalance and gives mental peace.

Yoga experts say that practicing this asana for a few minutes daily brings flexibility in the body and along with the body, the mind also remains healthy.

For simple Dhanurasana, first lie down on your stomach. Keep your forehead on the ground and the whole body should be in a comfortable position. Keep the legs straight and together. Now bend the knees and hold the ankles (or heels) firmly with both hands. During this, take a deep breath and slowly raise the head, chest and knees above the ground. Shape the body like a bow so that a stretch is felt in the back. Stay in this position for 10-20 seconds or as much as is comfortable, keep breathing normally. After this, slowly come to the starting posture.

However, it is also important to take some precautions. Pregnant women, people with high blood pressure, hernia, recent surgery or severe back, neck problems should not do this without expert advice. Do not apply too much force in the beginning, increase the practice gradually.
