Nowadays, desk job has become an important part of most people’s daily routine. Problems like stiff neck, back pain, frozen shoulder and muscle tension have become common due to working sitting at one place for hours. If you also work sitting in front of a computer for a long time, some simple exercises can help in reducing your discomfort.
Easy neck relaxation exercises
To relieve neck stiffness, place both hands behind the head and try to move the head backwards while resisting the light pressure of the hands. Remain in this position for a few seconds and then return to normal position. Also, rotate the neck left, right, up and down from time to time. Also practice bending the neck to both sides. This exercise helps in keeping the neck muscles flexible.
Stretching exercises for shoulders
Sitting for long periods of time can increase tension in the shoulders. For this, try to keep it balanced by placing a pen or pencil behind the head. This exercise can be helpful in increasing the movement of the shoulders. Also, stretch both the hands upwards and hold for a few seconds and then bring them to normal position. The practice of rotating the shoulders in clockwise and anti-clockwise direction is also considered beneficial.
Correct sitting posture is important
Not only exercise, but correct sitting posture is also very important. Set the height of your chair so that the computer screen is parallel to the eyes and the back remains straight. While sitting, keep the body in a comfortable and balanced position. By adopting correct posture, extra pressure on the neck, shoulders and waist can be reduced.
