Bhopal, March 31 (IANS). Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel on Tuesday said efforts to eliminate sickle cell anemia and TB (tuberculosis) from the state should be given top priority.
He directed that during the camps organized for sickle cell eradication programs in tribal areas, the general public should be told that the entire treatment process comes under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The Governor said these things while addressing the review meeting of Public Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH departments under ‘Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication 2047’ and ‘TB-Free India Campaign’ at Lok Bhawan. Governor Patel said that sickle cell patients should be given proper information about the facilities and eligibility available under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
The Governor also reviewed the district wise ‘Nikshay Mitras’ and directed that more and more people should be involved for their contribution in improving nutrition and food distribution, especially in tribal areas.
‘Nikshay Mitra’ are the donors who provide assistance to TB patients under the ‘Pradhan Mantri TB Free India Campaign’. Be they individuals, organizations, corporates or elected representatives. They provide voluntary and humanitarian help to patients, including nutrition, testing and professional support, keeping in mind the goal of a TB-free India.
The Governor directed that TB testing of people living and working in mining areas should be done regularly. Public representatives should actively cooperate in distributing nutritious food to TB patients.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, who attended the meeting, directed the officials to run a special campaign to ensure 100 percent completion of the progress of making Ayushman cards, indicators of sickle cell and TB eradication programme.
