New Delhi, December 20 (IANS). Irregular daily routine and wrong eating habits become the cause of many physical and mental problems. In today’s time, sour belching has become a common problem. Sour belching is not just an inconvenience, but an alarm of excess acidity in the stomach and disturbance of the digestive system. Ayurveda has an easy solution to this problem.

When hydrochloric acid in the stomach is produced in excess or food is digested late, the acid comes upward and causes sour belching. If we look at the causes of sour belching, they include heavy fried food, eating late at night, eating too quickly, too spicy or sour things, carbonated drinks, stress, irregular sleep and lying down immediately after meals. Due to these, the pH of the stomach becomes unbalanced and gas increases.

This problem can be easily solved by adopting Ayurvedic measures. Ayurveda suggests easy remedies to get relief from sour belching, which include chewing fennel or consuming sweet fennel and sugar candy powder after meals. Fennel contains anethole, which reduces gas and acid. Drinking lukewarm water mixed with half a spoon of honey is also beneficial. Drink coconut water on an empty stomach in the morning, which naturally controls acid and keeps the problem of sour belching away. Eat ripe banana, because the pectin in it absorbs the acid. Apart from this, take celery, black salt and dried lemon peel powder after meals.

Drink dry ginger (sonth) with honey or coriander seed water. Cucumber juice also gives cooling effect. Not only this, roasted cumin water is also beneficial for relief. To get relief from sour belching, practice Vajrasana for 10 to 15 minutes after meals. It enhances digestion and prevents acid build-up. In the diet, take lukewarm water, honey and light food in the morning, reduce gas related things, eat dinner early, and take a short walk after every meal.

In case of severe problem, consult a doctor.
