Amravati, May 24 (IANS). Chityala in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh recorded this season’s highest temperature of 48.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The scorching heat and scorching hot winds have badly affected the lives of people.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), the temperature also reached 48.1 degrees Celsius in Tanuku in West Godavari district and Piduguralla in Palnadu district. The continuously increasing heat has made the situation serious in many districts.

SDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain said that the temperature was recorded above 45 degrees Celsius in 13 districts of the state. The temperature remained more than 44 degrees in 174 divisions of 17 districts.

He said that the maximum heat was recorded in 23 mandals of Eluru district. Apart from this, 21 mandals of East Godavari, 17 of West Godavari, 16 of Krishna, 15 of Bapatla, 14 of NTR district, 13 of Palanadu, 12 of Konaseema and 11 of Kakinada were also in the grip of extreme heat.

Prakhar Jain appealed to the people to remain alert and said that similar extreme heat may continue for the next three days. He advised people to avoid traveling between 11 am and 4 pm. If you have to go out for important work, keep drinking water with you.

According to the Meteorological Department, on Monday, May 25, there is a possibility of severe heatwave conditions in 29 divisions of the state and normal heatwave conditions in 166 divisions. On Tuesday, the effect of severe heat wave can be seen in 50 divisions and normal heat wave in 205 divisions.

The temperature is expected to remain between 45 to 47 degrees Celsius in Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Polavaram, Eluru, NTR, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu and Prakasam districts.

The effect of heatwave continues in the neighboring state of Telangana also. Temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius or more were recorded in 16 out of 33 districts of the state. Dummugudem in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and Dharmapuri in Jagtial district recorded the highest temperature of 46.3 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the maximum temperature in Hyderabad was recorded at 42.1 degrees Celsius.
