New Delhi, November 11 (IANS). Due to changing lifestyle and wrong eating habits, liver problems are increasing rapidly. The Ministry of AYUSH of the Government of India advises to include five special yogasanas in the daily routine to keep the liver healthy, fit and detox.
According to the ministry, regular practice of Trikonasana, Dhanurasana, Bhujangasana, Ardha Matsyendrasana and Salamba Bhujangasana increases liver function, flushes out toxins and strengthens the digestive system. These asanas not only detoxify the liver but also energize the entire body. Practicing these five asanas for 20-30 minutes daily will keep the liver healthy.
Trikonasana is very useful for the liver. To do this, stand in Tadasana. Spread both legs 3-4 feet apart. Turn the right foot 90 degrees outward and the left foot slightly inward. Spread both hands in shoulder line. Now bend towards the right side and touch the foot or ankle with the right hand. Keep your left hand up. Hold 20-30 seconds, then repeat on the other side. This asana accelerates the detox process by putting pressure on the liver and abdominal organs.
Dhanurasana helps in reducing belly fat and activating the liver. Lie on your stomach on the ground. Bend your knees and hold your feet with your hands. While inhaling, raise the chest and thighs, the body comes in the shape of a bow. Wait 15-20 seconds. This asana lightly massages the liver, which removes toxic elements and improves digestion.
Bhujangasana is effective in reducing inflammation of the liver. Lie on your stomach and place your palms near your shoulders. While inhaling, raise the upper body, the part below the waist should remain on the ground. Wait 15-20 seconds. This asana puts strain on the liver and stomach, which increases blood circulation and speeds up the detox process.
Ardha Matsyendrasana works as a tonic for the liver. Sitting on the ground, place your right foot outside the left thigh. Remove the left foot from below the right knee. Take the right hand behind the back and hold the left knee. Turn around and wait for 20-30 seconds. Repeat on the other side. This asana is helpful in removing toxic substances from the liver and activates the digestive juices.
Salamba Bhujangasana This is the last step for cleansing the liver. Lie on your stomach, bend your elbows and place your palms near your shoulders. While inhaling, rise only till the chest, keep the head up. Wait 15-20 seconds. This asana increases the efficiency of the liver by putting mild pressure on it and detoxifies the entire stomach area.
