New Delhi, April 3 (IANS). Morning breakfast is considered the most important start of the day. The diet taken in this determines our metabolism, energy level and efficiency throughout the day. Many times people eat such things in haste or out of habit, which can prove to be harmful for the body. According to scientific research, certain types of foods on an empty stomach can increase acidity, blood sugar imbalance and digestive problems in the body.

According to experts, eating foods high in sugar early in the morning has an immediate effect on the body. When you consume sweets or packaged juices on an empty stomach, blood sugar increases rapidly. This sudden increase also causes insulin levels in the body to rise rapidly. After this, the sugar level suddenly falls after some time, which can cause problems like fatigue, irritability and excessive hunger. This is why nutrition experts recommend having a balanced and low-sugar breakfast in the morning.

Similarly, fried foods can also be heavy for the body in the morning. Research shows that fried foods contain high amount of fat, which takes time to digest on an empty stomach. This can cause problems like gas, indigestion and heaviness in the stomach. Morning is the time when our digestive system is gradually becoming active, in such a situation eating oily food puts it under more pressure. Therefore, light and easily digestible food is considered better.

Many people start the day with tea or coffee, but this habit can also increase problems. If seen from a scientific point of view, taking caffeine on an empty stomach can increase the level of acid in the stomach. This can cause problems like acidity, burning sensation and sometimes even nausea. Especially for people who already suffer from gas or acidity, this habit can be more harmful.

Apart from this, cold drinks or food kept in the fridge in the morning can also affect digestion. Experts believe that cold food slows down the digestion process, because the body has to expend energy to first bring it to normal temperature. This not only slows down digestion but can also cause heaviness in the stomach.
