New Delhi, June 28 (IANS). Festival, wedding, birthday or any happy occasion seems incomplete without sweets. But according to doctors, there is a right time to eat sweets, which people often ignore. Sweets eaten at the wrong time cause blood sugar to increase and gradually lead to weight gain.
Many people eat sweets, chocolates, biscuits or sweet things as soon as they wake up in the morning. Doing this can be harmful for the body. By eating sweets on an empty stomach, the sugar present in it reaches the blood very quickly. Due to this the blood sugar increases rapidly. After some time it also suddenly comes down. Due to this, one feels hungry quickly, feels weak and also feels like eating something sweet again and again.
In comparison, if sweet food is eaten after a meal, the body handles it better. When we first eat pulses, roti, vegetables, rice, salad or other nutritious things, then the body gets fiber, protein and other essential nutrients. These things allow the sugar present in sweets to reach the body slowly. Due to this, blood sugar does not increase suddenly and does not put much pressure on the body. Therefore, doctors also advise that if there is sweet food, it is better to eat it in small quantities after meals.
Doctors say that there is a lot of difference between the time of day and night. Eating too much sweets after dinner is not considered good for the body. At night our body prepares to rest. In such a situation, excess sugar and calories from sweets start getting accumulated in the body. Due to this, blood sugar can increase and gradually weight also starts increasing. According to scientific research, the habit of repeatedly eating sweets at night can cause many health problems in the future.
If sweets are eaten in small quantities during the day, especially after lunch, then it is considered better. The reason for this is that people are more active during the day.
Some people, in a hurry, manage only by eating cakes, pastries, chocolates or drinking sweet drinks. By doing this the body does not get the necessary nutrition. To keep the body healthy, it is important to eat pulses, bread, vegetables, fruits and other nutritious things.
People who have diabetes, pre-diabetes, obesity or blood sugar problems should be more careful in eating sweets.
