New Delhi, January 1 (IANS). In today’s time, due to busy routine and wrong eating habits, the body quickly becomes vulnerable to diseases. In such a situation, regular practice of Tiryak Bhujangasana provides many benefits to the body. This asana makes the spine flexible and strong, relieves back pain and improves the digestive system.
According to Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, the name of one form of Bhujangasana is Tiryak Bhujangasana. Its practice reduces the problem of constipation and keeps the liver and kidneys active. Daily practice of simple and effective asanas improves health.
Twisting posture is added to Tiryak Bhujangasana. ‘Tiryaka’ means oblique or curved, while ‘Bhujangasana’ is known as Cobra Pose. This asana makes the spine strong and flexible as well as activates the internal organs of the abdomen.
The method of doing Tiryak Bhujangasana is easy. For this, first of all lie down on the ground on your stomach. Keep both legs straight and bring the heels together. Place the palms on the ground near the shoulders. While inhaling, raise the upper body, as you do in Bhujangasana. Now turn the head and torso to the right and try to see the heel of the left foot. Wait for a few seconds, then come back to normal position. Repeat the same process on the left side. This completes a cycle. Do 3-5 cycles in the beginning and increase gradually.
Regular practice of this asana makes the spine strong and flexible, which provides relief from back pain and posture related problems. It improves the digestive system, because twisting puts pressure on the intestines and relieves problems like constipation. Stomach organs like liver, kidneys and intestines become active and function better. Lung capacity increases, breathing becomes smoother, and the chest expands.
This asana is especially beneficial for women, as it provides relief from period irregularities and gynecological diseases. Keeps the nervous system healthy and reduces stress. Shoulders, arms and thighs become flexible and it also helps in reducing waist fat. This asana is also considered helpful in awakening Kundalini and increasing the energy of the body.
According to yoga experts, including Tiryak Bhujangasana in your daily routine strengthens both physical and mental health. However, it is important to take some precautions. Pregnant women, persons with serious back or neck injuries, and hernia or ulcer patients should avoid this asana. People with high blood pressure should also do Tiryak Bhujangasana after taking advice. Always do the asanas on an empty stomach and under the supervision of a yoga expert.
