Agartala, June 26 (IANS). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday said the state government is rapidly implementing development projects to ensure that even the last man in the society gets the benefits of socio-economic progress, good health services and better administrative facilities.
The Chief Minister said that Tripura has made remarkable progress in many sectors such as healthcare, education, tourism, information technology and infrastructure, thereby creating a conducive environment for investment and economic growth. Our state has made tremendous progress in the fields of health, education, tourism and information technology. As a result, investors from different parts of the country are showing keen interest in investing in Tripura.
Saha said this after laying the foundation stone of the new building of 100-bed Sepahijala District Hospital in Sepahijala district and inaugurating 24/7 emergency and indoor patient department (IPD) services at Lalsinghmura Primary Health Centre.
The Chief Minister also virtually inaugurated several development projects implemented in different parts of the district.
Addressing the program, Saha said that under the visionary leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Modi, the state government is implementing several welfare and development initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of the people.
Highlighting the achievements in the health sector, he said significant efforts have been made to strengthen the healthcare infrastructure across the state and improve access to quality medical services.
He said that to provide better health services to the people, the number of beds in Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital has been increased from 727 to 1,413. The bed capacity in Gomti District Hospital has also been doubled. A cardiac care unit has been set up in Ambassa, so that people living in remote areas can get specialized treatment close to their homes.
The Chief Minister further said that beneficiaries across the state are getting better health services under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). About Rs 300 crore has been spent under this scheme. Apart from this, people of the state have availed medical services worth Rs 41.74 crore under the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
He also informed that a 100-bed eye hospital is being built near ILS Hospital in Agartala to strengthen the specialized healthcare services in the state. The government has also taken steps towards setting up Homeopathy and Ayurvedic Medical Colleges to promote alternative medical systems and increase education opportunities in the healthcare sector.
He said that telemedicine services have been started for the benefit of people living in remote and rural areas. Trauma care centers have been set up in all the districts of the state to ensure timely treatment of accident victims and emergency patients.
Saha also mentioned the economic achievements of the state and said that Tripura currently ranks second among the North-Eastern states in terms of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and per capita income. NITI Aayog has given the status of ‘Front Runner’ state to Tripura in view of its performance on various development related parameters and governance related initiatives.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensure balanced and inclusive development by expanding healthcare infrastructure, improving connectivity, creating employment opportunities and improving the overall quality of life of the people.
