New Delhi, June 8 (IANS). In today’s fast-paced life, the pressure on the body is continuously increasing, which is causing serious problems like weakness of the digestive system, muscle stiffness, back pain and hernia. In such a situation, yoga is seen as a natural treatment for the body. Among these yoga asanas, Upavishtha Konasana is one such easy asana, which benefits the lower part of the body and gives relief from many problems.
Upavishtha Konasana mainly works the internal parts of the body, especially the hamstrings, pelvic area, abdomen and spine. While doing this asana, the body is slowly stretched and tilted forward, due to which the muscles get stretched. This stretch reduces stiffness in the body and improves internal blood circulation. This is more beneficial for those people who work sitting for a long time.
The biggest benefit of this asana is to increase flexibility in the hamstring muscles. The hamstrings are large muscles in the back of the body, located at the back of the thighs. When a person sits for a long time or moves less, these muscles gradually become stiff. In Upavishtha Konasana, when we bend forward with the legs spread, these muscles get gradually stretched. This stretch makes the muscles loose and flexible, which makes it easier to move and improves body balance.
Additionally, it aims to improve blood circulation in the pelvic area. The pelvic area is an important part of the body, where many internal organs are located. During this asana, when the body bends forward, slight pressure and stretch is created in this area, which improves blood flow. With better blood circulation, the organs remain more active and healthy, which reduces the chances of many internal problems.
Upavishtha Konasana is also considered helpful in the prevention of hernia. Hernia occurs when the abdominal muscles become weak and the internal organs start pressing outward from their normal place. This asana strengthens the abdominal and pelvic muscles. When muscles are strong, they help keep the internal organs in place.
This asana is also useful in providing relief from sciatica pain. Sciatica pain often starts in the waist and travels down to the legs, and is caused by pressure on the nerves. In Upavishtha Konasana, when the body bends forward and the legs stretch, it helps in reducing the pressure gradually. This reduces the stress on the nerves and can provide relief from pain.
This yoga asana is also considered helpful in regularizing menstruation. When blood circulation in the pelvic area improves and the muscles are balanced, the hormonal balance of the body also improves. This balance plays a role in regulating the menstrual cycle. Along with this, it can also be helpful in reducing pain and cramps.
